The Rolex Milgauss, a timeless classic, debuted in 1956. The Rolex Milgauss was crafted to satisfy the scientific community's needs, withstanding magnetic fields up to 1,000 gauss. An ordinary mechanical watch's reliability and precision may be compromised by magnetic fields between 50 and 100 gauss. However, scientists often encounter much stronger magnetic fields in their work. Rolex's answer to this challenge was the Milgauss, the first watch designed to resist such conditions. The name 'Milgauss' is derived from 'mille,' the French word for 'thousand,' reflecting its capacity. The Milgauss is especially famous for being the choice of scientists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva.
 
This watch boasts a 40mm Oyster case, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with a unique green hue, and 100-meter water resistance. Its Twinlock crown employs dual rubber gaskets to prevent water ingress, and a soft iron dial forms a Faraday cage, protecting the watch from magnetic forces. The Rolex Caliber 3131 movement, a Superlative Chronometer-certified mechanism, powers the watch, ensuring precision and magnetic resistance. Equipped with a Parachrom hairspring crafted from a niobium-zirconium alloy, it offers exceptional resistance to shocks and temperature variations.
